Best engineering colleges – NIRF ranking 2018: According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras secured the first position in the list of top engineering colleges in India. The list was released by the Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar on April 9th, 2018.
The NIRF rankings announced for the categories such as engineering, management, medical, law, architecture and others.
As mentioned above, the IIT-Madras in first rank which keeps that same position in followed by 2017 and 2016 NIRF ranking. The IIT-Bombay and IIT-Delhi are in the second and third rank respectively.

IIT Kharagpur stepped down one rank this year from last year. IIT- Kanpur, IIT-Roorkee, IIT-Guwahati, Anna University, Chennai are in the top order of Best engineering colleges.
So, apart from the IITs, Anna University in Chennai and Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai are in the first and second position as per the report.
