Kannur: A Kannur based BJP worker, Vineesh was today hacked to death today in Thillankeri, Kannur a district of Kerala.
25-year-old Vineesh, a BJP activist was found grievously injured panchayat office near Thillankeri at around 8 pm in the evening today. Vineesh was taken to a nearby hospital by the Kerala police. At the hospital, Vineesh was declared brought dead.
As a part of the protest against the death, the BJP workers have decided to hold a strike (hartal) starting from 6 AM to 6 PM tomorrow.

The deceased has been identified as Vineesh, a native of Thillankeri.

The incident took place after a bomb was thrown into a car. The car had a CPM worker boarded. Vineesh Jijo was admitted to AKG hospital in Kannur. DYFI activists were injured in the evening after the bomb exploded.
“We were at the spot where the bomb was hurled. That’s when we heard about an injured person in Thillankeri. We found him with serious head and leg injuries,” Circle Inspector of Thillankeri, Sajesh said.
Primary investigations revealed that the attacks are for political and retaliatory reasons, police said.

Vinesh was attacked with sharp-edged weapons by a gang near the Thillankeri panchayat office, police said. The gang created panic in the area by hurling country-made bombs before targeting Vineeth. Vinesh’s body was taken to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital, where he was declared death. BJP’s Kerala unit has blamed CPM for the murder of Vinesh in Twitter.
Areas surrounding Thillankeri areas are highly tense after the murder, Manorama. Police personnel is deployed in large numbers in the area.
