The date of the IPL 2021 auction was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) early a month ago as it is all set to start on February 18, 2021. The auction will take place in Chennai.
A total of 292 players (including 164 Indian cricketers) will go under the hammer in the IPL 2021 Auction. Check all the names in this article below. The mega auction will only take place for the 2022 season. The BCCI notified all the teams to use 75% of their purse value in this year's auction.

IPL 2021 Auction Date And Time
Once again, the date and time of the IPL 2021 auction are on 18th February 2021 and it is expected to start between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm IST. A month ago, the teams have submitted the retained and released players list on January 21, 2021. The cricket fans were surprised because of the few names on the list such as Steve Smith, Harbhajan Singh, Chris Morris, Lasith Malinga, Piyush Chawla, Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch and others.
Also, BCCI allowed for player registration until February 4th, there are 1114 players who had registered. The finalized list of players have released by the BCCI on February 11, who all go under the hammer in the auction. As mentioned early, 164 players were from India out of 292 total players, 125 overseas players and 3 players were from Associate nations.
Though Sreesanth missed out, but some of his colleagues from Kerala are part of the auction including Sachin Baby and Mohammad Azharuddeen.
IPL 2021 Schedule And IPL 2021 Date
After few months later of IPL 2020, the next edition is near now to begin in a month. One of the biggest league among the international cricket circle, the Indian Premier League – IPL 2021 – is all set to start in April 2021. After the bidding battle between the team owners on February 18 in Chennai, the confirmation of IPL 2021 Schedule will be announced.
As of now, the BCCI hasn’t given any official confirmation on either of the factors about the IPL 2021 schedule and the IPL 2021 date. Though, there are media reports saying that the IPL 2021 will commence from April 11 and the final match to be held on June 6th, 2021, yet to be confirmed by the BCCI.
IPL 2021 Teams
There was a plan to expand the size of teams, but the Indian Premier League (IPL) will continue to remain eight teams in total. We can expect the lot of changes in IPL 2020 edition in all aspects. Because of the current situation around the world, the BCCI holds the plan for massive upgradation of the league competition. But as the plan, the league tournament will happen with the ten teams from the 2022 edition.
