Chipset company, Qualcomm announced their next chipset from Snapdragon series “Snapdragon 835” at CES 2017 today. Snapdragon 835 Chip is an Octa-Core chipset which is built using “big.LITTLE” architecture. The chip will be Available commercially by mid-2017. Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is more powerful and battery efficient.
Earlier models of Chipsets by Qualcomm, Snapdragon 820 and the Snapdragon 821 chipset are currently used on premium smartphones which are Quad Core. Whereas, the Snapdragon 835 is an octa-core processor (Qualcomm Kryo 280 CPU) using 10 NM process. The upcoming new chipset is clocked up to 2.4GHz – 4x cores, up to 1.9GHz and 4x cores up to 2.4GHz.

SD 835 is coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. Performance wise the chipset is 27% faster and provides 25% faster GPU rendering. Battery consumption of this chipset is 25% less power consumption when benchmarked with older versions.

Snapdragon 835 Chipset supports 4K, and the size of the chipset will be tiny which will allow device manufacturers to design thinner devices. Other features available and supported includes multi-day battery life, AR/VR support, 4K support, ultra fast charging, Multi-Gigabit WiFi connectivity and Qualcomm quick charge four support that gives up to 5 hours talk time with just 5 minutes of charging.
Snapdragon 835 is expected to available for the 2nd half of 2017.
