Tarang Sanchar: Mobile Tower's radiation has always been a concern for everyone. In cities, like Mumbai, The radiation level has crossed the safety limits. To reduce the fears of mobile tower radiation, the Department of Telecom (DoT) will launch a portal to check radiation level status of towers. Union Minister Manoj Sinha shared the information on Saturday.
Tarang Sanchar: DoT to Launch Portal to check Radiation Status of Mobile Towers
At an awareness program on Electromagnetic Field Emissions and Mobile Towers, the Union Minister of State for Communications said: “The portal – Tarang Sanchar – is expected to be operational by next month.”
With the help of Tarang Sanchar, we will be able to check the current status of a mobile tower located anywhere in the country. Along with the radiation level, its electromagnetic field (EMF) emissions signal status will also be available. But the portal will not be free and will come with a fee for testing any particular Tower's data.

“The tests are usually conducted on a random basis by us. But if someone wants a particular tower tested, then it can be carried out for a fee,” says, J.S. Deepak, Telecom Secretary. The event was organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Communications.
As per Deepak, Rs. 5,000 would be charged as a fee for conducting an on-demand test of a particular tower. This awareness program was a part of a nationwide program to facilitate the Digital India initiative.
