In a comprehensive year-end interview with Famitsu, key members of the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes development team from Rabbit & Bear Studios shared their reflections on the game’s release, challenges, and aspirations for 2025. The team also confirmed that new DLC content is in the pipeline, offering fans much to look forward to after the game’s rocky but ultimately promising debut.

The Journey to Release: Challenges and Triumphs

After a couple of delays, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes made its debut in 2024. The game, a spiritual successor to the beloved Suikoden series, carried the weight of high expectations thanks to its development team led by the late Yoshitaka Murayama, along with other Suikoden veterans. However, the launch wasn’t without issues, as technical bugs marred the experience for some players across platforms.

Rabbit & Bear Studios, however, remained proactive. Multiple updates rolled out to address player concerns, signaling the team’s dedication to delivering a polished experience. Character designer Junko Kawano acknowledged the unique hurdles posed by the game’s crowdfunding model but expressed deep gratitude to fans for their unwavering support.

While he felt the game’s release fell short of his aspirations, he remains optimistic about applying his learnings to future projects. Murakami also pledged to prioritize unfinished backer rewards, signaling a renewed focus on community trust and engagement.

Kawano, meanwhile, shared her excitement for the upcoming remasters of Suikoden I & II, connecting with fans who hold the series close to their hearts. Her comments also hinted at a strong sense of camaraderie and shared nostalgia within the team.

Murayama’s Legacy in Eiyuden Chronicle

Murayama’s influence on Eiyuden Chronicle is unmistakable, with his writing and creative direction serving as the backbone of the project.
